Say “Hello” to our new Speech and Language Pathologist, Joyce!

Joyce is a licensed Speech and Language Pathologist who recently joined MKP!

Joyce is originally from Mississippi; however, moved to beautiful San Diego almost two years ago. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a Minor in Mandarin Chinese at Southern Methodist University in Texas. From there, she went on to earn her Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology at the University of Alabama.

Joyce has experience working with Childhood Apraxia of Speech (CAS), articulation delays, phonological disorders, receptive-expressive language delays, and children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). She loves incorporating parents into her speech therapy sessions to help encourage carryover into the home to best support each child’s progress.

In her spare time, Joyce is learning Spanish to better serve San Diego’s many Spanish-English bilingual families. She also frequents the local farmers’ markets, and enjoys the beach with her husband and two dogs. Otherwise, Joyce can be found looking for her next craft project!

If you are concerned with your child’s ability to effectively express their needs, to communicate with others, or to speak clearly, consider discussing a speech therapy evaluation referral with your child’s pediatrician.
