Adaptive physical education (APE) is a service provided to children who qualify as having a disability following an evaluation with the school district. APE is a specialized exercise program designed to challenge your child, while still meeting their needs by adapting a typical PE curriculum. The program can be provided in a 1:1 setting, small group, or in the least restrictive environment (general PE setting). A child can qualify for physical therapy services in addition to APE; one service does not exclude the other.
