Spatial Awareness

Spatial awareness is the perception of the distance from your body to an object, as well as the perception of the distance of your body parts in relation to each other.

Poor spatial awareness can lead to clumsiness (ex: running into walls) or difficulty with ball skills (ex: missing the ball when trying to kick it). Contact our occupational therapists if you suspect your child has difficulty with spatial awareness.

Four children wearing black shorts and shirts practice hula hooping and try to avoid bumping into each other as a way to improve spatial awareness.
Hula hoops are a great way to learn spatial awareness.
