Autism Resources:
The Autism Society of San Diego works to improve the quality of life for individuals with Autism and their loved ones through their support groups, aquatic groups, community resources & events and newsletters. They also offer financial support and programs for those in need.
The Autism Tree Project Foundation (ATPF) was created to serve as a voice for the autism community by spreading awareness and educating families on how to facilitate quality of life for their loved ones with autism. ATPF offers 20 unique programs, such as safe traveling, beach days, and educational workshops.
Brain Spectrum Neuropsychology offers "neurodiversity-affirming assessments" to individuals of all ages. Dr. Elisabeth Thurlow is a licensed psychologist with over 25 years of experience and is an expert in helping individuals with autism and other neurodivergent clients.
The National Foundation for Autism Research provides programs and resources such as early identification, educational equipment and workshops, and treatment programs for families struggling to find enough help. Vocational tech training for young adults and out-of-school programs can also be accessed through NFAR.
The SDSU Center for Autism and Developmental Disorders offers developmental testing and evaluations, workshops for individuals with autism and their families, and hosts events to support the autism community. They also conduct research on autism and related disorders.
Funding for Services:
California Child Services (CCS) is “a statewide program that provides funding for treatment of children with certain physical limitations and chronic health conditions or diseases. CCS also authorizes and pays for specific medical services and equipment provided by CCS-approved specialists.”
Gigi’s Playhouse offers “free educational, therapeutic, and career building programs to individuals with Down syndrome, their families, and the community.”
The Muscular Dystrophy Association is a nonprofit organization focusing on research, treatments and new technology that could benefit individuals with muscular dystrophy. In addition to their research, they also offer care centers, resource centers and summer camps.
The San Diego Regional Center (SDRC) is a private, non-profit organization that works to provide a range of services to individuals with disabilities throughout California. The SDRC is one of 21 regional centers in California.
United Cerebral Palsy of San Diego offers a wide range of services including adult day programs, grants and funding and information and referral. This organization also does equipment recycling and aids in acquiring the necessary assistive technology your child needs.
Meditation:
The Kadampa Meditation Center San Diego offers family meditation classes for $10 per family. Classes take place Sunday mornings 10:30am-12pm. Classes focus on meditation in a playful environment so children learn healthy coping strategies for classroom and home challenges.
The UC San Diego Medical Center offers a wide variety of mindfulness programs including youth, school & family programs such “Mindfulness for Teens” and “Mindful Education.” Prices will range depending on the duration of the program and whether or not they are offered online or in-person.
Parenting Resources:
Jewish Family Service (JFS) offers Positive Parenting Workshops virtually or in-person, along with other family support programs.
Therapy Services:
La Jolla Learning Works create personalized learning plans for your children with their team of education specialists. Together, you will create a plan and schedule individualized for your child.
Milestone Pediatric Therapy offers assistive technology (AT) services such as assessments, resources for repairs and parent training.
The Psychiatric Centers at San Diego consists of a team of psychiatrists and psychotherapists dedicated to providing affordable behavioral health services to San Diego County. They offer a variety of services including autism services (in home or in the office), individual therapy & family therapy.
WriteSteps Pediatric Occupational Therapy offers a variety of workshops for parents looking to enhance their child’s learning. Workshops cover topics such as purposeful play, crafts that encourage developmental skills, prevention in developmental delays, and sensory integration.
The Therapeutic Literacy Center is a small private school offering individual and intensive cognitive therapy, group educational therapy and tutoring for students who benefit from one-on-one therapy.

San Diego State University Child & Adolescent Anxiety & Mood Program (SDSU ChAAMP) provides a list of publications and free PDFs for parents looking to enhance their knowledge on youth anxiety and depression. SDSU ChAAMP is a treatment research center dedicated to improving mental health care for the youth and their loved ones.
San Diego Regional Center (SDRC) provides free self-advocacy resources on their website to support individuals with disabilities and their loved ones to voice concerns and take control of their lives.
